News Desk

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a significant increase in allowances for civil and police officers deployed in areas affected by terrorism and unrest, approving a new “Extraordinary Security Risk Allowance” that amounts to 250% of their basic salary.

This decision, aimed at providing financial support to those serving in high-risk districts, reflects the provincial government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of its employees.

An official spokesperson stated, “This allowance is a recognition of the challenges faced by our officers in ensuring safety and security in volatile regions. We are dedicated to supporting them in their crucial roles.”

The introduction of this allowance is expected to bolster morale among security personnel and improve retention rates in districts that have historically struggled with recruitment due to security concerns.

Analysts believe this move could also enhance the overall effectiveness of law enforcement in combating terrorism and maintaining public order.

Looking ahead, the provincial government plans to monitor the implementation of this allowance closely and may consider further adjustments based on feedback from the affected personnel.

Additional announcements regarding support measures for families of officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty are also anticipated in the coming weeks.
