Karachi on Alert as Thunderstorm, Dusty Winds Forecast

Karachi: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for Karachi, warning of possible thunderstorms, dusty winds, and thundershowers on June 18. The alert remains in place until June 18 due to expected unstable weather conditions in the city.
According to the Met Office, Karachi may experience thunderstorms accompanied by rain and strong dusty winds over the coming days.
In response to the weather advisory, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has placed all relevant departments at Jinnah International Airport on high alert and directed them to ensure full operational readiness.
The PAA has also initiated precautionary measures at the airport. Officials have been instructed to relocate fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft parked on the apron and tarmac to safer locations. All loose equipment and ground support materials are to be properly secured to prevent potential damage.

Furthermore, the authority has directed a thorough inspection of electrical installations and cables, ensured the functionality of follow-me vehicles, and confirmed the serviceability of airfield lighting systems and related infrastructure.
Airport officials said all relevant agencies are continuously monitoring the evolving weather situation to ensure safe air operations and timely implementation of precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, weather conditions improved in several parts of Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following rainfall, bringing a pleasant change in temperature.
