Honda Atlas Discontinues Production of BR-V

KARACHI: Honda Atlas Cars Ltd (HACL) has officially ceased production of its Honda BR-V model, marking the end of its lifecycle.
A senior executive from HACL confirmed this decision on Tuesday, stating that the company faced no challenges in sourcing parts and accessories from Japan or other countries.
The executive explained, “Actually, the vehicle has completed its lifecycle, and that’s why its production has been halted.”
He further noted that production volumes had dwindled to a mere 25-50 units per month, leaving uncertainty about any potential replacement for the BR-V in the near future. Additionally, the BR-V has been removed from the company’s official website, while other models remain prominently displayed.
Data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) reveals a significant decline in production and sales figures for the BR-V and its counterpart, the HR-V.
Combined production and sales plummeted to 120 and 191 units in July-August 2023, a stark contrast to 1,460 and 731 units during the same period in 2022.
The BR-V assembly began in April 2017, with initial production of 648 units and sales of 527 units in the same month.
Looking ahead, the automotive market in Pakistan may face further shifts as manufacturers adapt to changing consumer preferences and economic conditions.
The discontinuation of the BR-V could signal a broader trend in the industry, prompting other companies to reassess their product offerings in response to declining sales.
