Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Reach Asian Games Semifinals

NISSHiN: Bangladesh and Sri Lanka advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Games 2026 after both of their quarterfinal matches were abandoned due to persistent rain on Tuesday.
Bangladesh were scheduled to face Malaysia in the fourth quarterfinal at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. However, incessant rain forced officials to call off the match without a toss.
Earlier, Sri Lanka’s quarterfinal against Nepal was also abandoned because of unfavorable weather conditions.
As the higher-ranked teams in the ICC rankings, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka progressed to the semifinals without taking the field, while Malaysia and Nepal were eliminated from the tournament.
India will face Sri Lanka in the first semifinal, while Pakistan will take on Bangladesh in the second semifinal on Thursday, October 1.
