Four Killed in Deadly Khuzdar Highway Crash

KHUZDAR: At least four people, including a father and his son, were killed on the spot after an over-speeding passenger coach collided head-on with a motorcar near Khuzdar along the national highway network.

Emergency response units and local administration personnel rushed to the scene immediately to extricate the victims from the crushed wreckage of the smaller vehicle, transferring the deceased to a nearby medical facility.

According to district administration and Levies Force officials, the catastrophic impact occurred when the Karachi-bound passenger bus attempted a reckless overtaking maneuver, crashing directly into the oncoming private car.

Medical staff at the Khuzdar Teaching Hospital confirmed that all four car occupants succumbed to catastrophic blunt force trauma before reaching clinical care.

The bodies of the father and son, alongside two other passengers, were handed over to grief-stricken relatives following necessary medico-legal formalities.

The tragedy once again underscores the escalating danger across Balochistan’s inter-provincial corridors, particularly the heavily trafficked National Highway 25 (N-25), widely referred to by locals as the “killer highway.”

Lacking physical lane dividers, proper illumination, and sufficient motorway police surveillance, the single-carriageway transit link experiences hundreds of fatal accidents each year, with long-haul passenger coaches frequently operating well above legal speed limits without adequate mechanical oversight.

District authorities have impounded both damaged vehicles and initiated a formal investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the collision.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that an initial inquiry report is being prepared to establish legal liability against the transport company and driver, while regional representatives have renewed urgent demands for the federal government to accelerate the long-delayed dualization of major Balochistan road arteries.
