Bogota: The death toll from the Colombian landslide incident rose to 34 on Sunday. Details indicate that a landslide occurred on the Quibdo-Medellin Highway in northwest Colombia, resulting in 34 fatalities and over 20 injuries, as confirmed by local authorities on Saturday.
The Choco Department government, where the disaster transpired, released a statement noting that the deceased were transported to Medellin, the capital of Antioquia.

Colombia’s Vice President Francia Marquez, formerly on Twitter (referred to as X), verified an updated toll of 33 dead and 25 injured, marking a significant increase from the initial report of at least 18 deaths.
William Vivas, a local government official in Medellin, explained to reporters that the region’s frequent rainfall contributes to mountain instability, emphasizing the environmental factors that led to the tragic landslide.
