QUETTA: In a major intelligence-based operation, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Quetta, in collaboration with the Frontier Corps (FC), successfully thwarted a major gold smuggling attempt from a border region of Balochistan, recovering over six kilograms of precious metal.
According to initial reports released by customs authorities, the operation was executed following a tip-off regarding illicit movement across the porous border areas. Security forces intercepted a suspicious vehicle and, during a thorough search, discovered concealed gold bars weighing over six kilograms.
The estimated value of the confiscated gold runs into millions of rupees in the local market.
The seizure highlights the ongoing vulnerability of border regions to transnational smuggling rings that siphon off valuable state revenues and destabilize the domestic economy.
