60% of Cases Involve Financial Fraud: NCCIA
News Desk
ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has reported that a staggering 60% of cyber crime cases in Pakistan are linked to financial fraud.
This alarming statistic highlights the growing threat posed by digital criminals in the country.
According to the NCCIA, the rise in financial fraud cases has been attributed to increased online transactions and a lack of awareness among citizens regarding cyber security measures.
An official from the agency stated, “As more people engage in online banking and shopping, the opportunities for fraudsters to exploit vulnerabilities have significantly increased.
We urge the public to remain vigilant and adopt safer online practices.”
This surge in cyber crime not only poses risks to individuals but also threatens the overall economic stability of the nation.
Experts warn that if left unchecked, these fraudulent activities could undermine public trust in digital financial systems, potentially stalling the growth of e-commerce and digital banking in Pakistan.
In response to this growing concern, the NCCIA plans to launch a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at educating citizens about the risks of cyber fraud and the importance of safeguarding personal information.
The agency is also expected to collaborate with financial institutions to enhance security protocols and improve reporting mechanisms for victims of cyber crime.
