QUETTA: Unidentified thieves have disrupted electricity supply to the Gandawah area of Sibi by stealing conductors from 24 power poles on the 33kV Gandawah feeder.

The incident occurred on Saturday, leading to significant power outages in the region.

According to Qesco spokesperson Afzal Baloch, the theft not only involved the removal of electrical conductors but also resulted in damage to three pre-stressed concrete (PCC) poles.

This act of vandalism has left the city of Gandawah, which relies on the 33kV feeder for its electricity, without power. Baloch stated that the power company will conduct an initial survey to assess the damage and prepare a report detailing the financial losses incurred due to this incident.

The theft of electrical infrastructure poses serious implications for the residents of Gandawah, who are now facing prolonged power outages.

Such incidents not only disrupt daily life but can also hinder local businesses and economic activities, highlighting the vulnerability of essential services to criminal acts.

In response to the theft, Qesco is expected to expedite its investigation and implement measures to enhance security around its infrastructure.

The company aims to restore power supply as quickly as possible while also addressing the broader issue of electrical theft that has plagued various regions.
