Why Rohit Sharma Is Now Promoting Solar Power

New Delhi: Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma is taking on a new role beyond the boundary, becoming the brand ambassador for rooftop solar company Freyr Energy as the firm launches its new campaign, “Solar Ho, Toh Freyr Ho!”
The campaign, set to roll out across India from September 30, uses Sharma’s popularity and reputation to promote rooftop solar as a long-term investment for Indian households.
The partnership comes as India’s PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana encourages more households to adopt residential rooftop solar systems. Freyr Energy said its campaign will focus not only on the installation of solar panels but also on the decades-long relationship between homeowners and their solar provider.
“Our aim has always been to raise the bar for what Indian homeowners can expect from rooftop solar, not just on installation day but across the 30-year life of their system,” Freyr Energy Co-founder and Managing Director Saurabh Marda said.
Marda said Sharma’s career-long focus on consistency and performance made him a natural choice for the company’s first brand ambassador.
Freyr Energy Co-founder and Director Radhika Choudary said choosing a rooftop solar system represents a long-term decision for families, requiring a company that continues to support customers well after installation.
“When a family puts solar on its roof, they are trusting a company for the next 30 years,” Choudary said, describing the campaign slogan as a concise expression of that commitment.
Sharma said environmental protection has been important to him for years and described rooftop solar as an opportunity for families to contribute to a cleaner future.
“Rooftop solar gives families a chance to do their bit for the planet,” Sharma said, adding that having a trusted partner was an important part of the decision.
The campaign also aims to associate Freyr Energy with reliability and long-term customer support, with Marketing Head Rajan Mahalingam saying Sharma’s public image of consistency and trust aligns with the company’s message.
The campaign will roll out through a series of creative assets and advertising films beginning September 30, taking the solar message to households across India with one of the country’s most recognisable cricket figures at the centre of the campaign.
