Lahore: A dramatic moment overshadowed an otherwise disciplined bowling display during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 fixture, as tempers flared between Rawalpindiz pacer Mohammad Amir and Islamabad United all-rounder Faheem Ashraf at National Bank Stadium on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the 17th over when Amir delivered a sharp slower bouncer that induced a top edge from Faheem, safely collected behind the stumps by Mohammad Rizwan. What followed was an intense exchange, with Amir celebrating aggressively and gesturing Faheem to head back to the pavilion.

Faheem reacted angrily, walking towards the bowler and pointing his bat in response. The situation threatened to escalate before teammates Asif Afridi and Saad Masood intervened, stepping in to separate the players and restore calm.

Earlier, Rawalpindiz’s decision to bowl first proved decisive as they restricted Islamabad United to 137 in their 20 overs. The innings struggled to gain momentum from the outset, with early breakthroughs from Amir and Naseem Shah putting Islamabad under pressure inside the powerplay.

A brief recovery came through Devon Conway and Mark Chapman, who stitched together a steady partnership, but regular wickets prevented any sustained acceleration. Conway top-scored with 40, while Chapman added 23 before both were dismissed in quick succession.

The middle and lower order failed to capitalize, despite a late cameo from Chris Green, who struck 29 off 16 deliveries. Amir returned to remove Faheem Ashraf, capping off a key spell that further dented Islamabad’s innings.

Rawalpindiz maintained tight control throughout, with contributions from multiple bowlers ensuring Islamabad never fully recovered, eventually being bowled out for a below-par total in a match marked as much by on-field drama as by disciplined bowling.
