ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will each receive two seats on the newly formed electoral reforms committee.

This decision was revealed by the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, who emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue in shaping the future of Pakistan’s electoral process.

The minister stated that the committee aims to address longstanding issues within the electoral framework, ensuring that all major political parties have a voice in the reform process.

He noted, “This initiative is crucial for restoring public confidence in our electoral system and enhancing democratic practices in the country.”

The committee’s formation comes amid ongoing debates about electoral integrity and transparency.

The establishment of this panel is expected to have significant implications for Pakistan’s political landscape, as it seeks to foster collaboration among rival parties.

Analysts suggest that a successful reform process could lead to more credible elections, potentially stabilizing the political environment and encouraging greater voter participation.

Looking ahead, the committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting next week, where members will outline their agenda and set timelines for proposed reforms.

Stakeholders from various sectors, including civil society and electoral watchdogs, are anticipated to be invited to contribute to the discussions, further broadening the scope of the reform efforts.
