PM Orders Joint Probe into Terrorist Attack on Chinese Engineers

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed a comprehensive joint investigation into the recent terrorist attack targeting Chinese engineers in the Bisham area of Shangla district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The attack occurred on Tuesday and targeted workers involved in the Dasu Hydel Power Project.

During a meeting held on Wednesday, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, utilizing all state resources. He expressed profound condolences to the families of the victims and pledged swift justice for the perpetrators of this brutal act.

Chairing a high-level emergency meeting following the attack, the Prime Minister commended the prompt response of law enforcement agencies and local residents, which prevented further loss of life.

The meeting, attended by Federal Ministers, the Chief of the Army Staff, Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries, and Inspector Generals of Police from respective provinces, extensively discussed the appalling assault on innocent civilians engaged in a vital development project aimed at bolstering Pakistan’s energy and water security.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the enduring bond of brotherhood between Pakistan and China, expressing the nation’s deep sorrow over the loss of Chinese lives. He condemned terrorism as a transnational threat manipulated by enemies to impede Pakistan’s progress and disrupt its friendship with China.

Participants in the meeting reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism from Pakistan. They raised concerns about terrorist sanctuaries across borders and stressed the necessity of a regional strategy to counter this menace.

During the discussion, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) reiterated the armed forces’ determination to eliminate terrorism. 

COAS highlighted Pakistan’s steadfast resilience in the face of terrorist incidents, asserting the nation’s resolve to protect all citizens, particularly Chinese nationals contributing to Pakistan’s development.

Addressing recent terrorist activities, he emphasized Pakistan’s resilience and vowed to fight terrorism relentlessly until every threat is neutralized. He pledged unwavering support for the safety of foreign nationals, particularly Chinese citizens.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to combat terrorism comprehensively, utilizing all available state resources to ensure the safety and security of the nation and its allies.
