ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan has instructed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to expedite its reform processes aimed at improving tax collection efficiency.
This directive comes as part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance fiscal stability and address ongoing economic challenges.
During a recent meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for swift implementation of reforms within the FBR, highlighting that a robust tax system is crucial for the country’s economic growth.
He stated, “The FBR must adopt innovative approaches to streamline tax collection and broaden the tax base, ensuring that all segments of society contribute fairly to national revenue.”
The acceleration of FBR reforms is expected to have significant implications for Pakistan’s economy, particularly in light of rising inflation and fiscal deficits.
By enhancing tax collection, the government aims to reduce reliance on external borrowing and improve public service funding, which is vital for socio-economic development.
Looking ahead, the government plans to hold a series of consultations with stakeholders in the coming weeks to discuss the implementation of these reforms.
The Prime Minister has called for regular progress reports to ensure accountability and transparency in the reform process.
