Pakistan Sees 37% Drop in Terrorist Attacks in October: PICSS
News Desk
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported a notable decline in terrorist attacks, with incidents dropping by 37% in October compared to September, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).
The country recorded 143 attacks last month, a significant decrease from 226 in September, marking a reversal of two months of escalating violence.
The decline is particularly evident in Balochistan and mainland Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where suicide attacks have also seen a substantial reduction.
However, the rise in kidnappings, especially in Balochistan, continues to raise alarms among security officials and the public alike.
Statistics reveal that the number of fatalities resulting from these attacks fell from 260 in September to 111 in October, a reduction of 57%.
Additionally, the number of injuries plummeted by 71%, from 242 to just 69, indicating a significant improvement in the overall security landscape.
As the government and security agencies assess these developments, there is a pressing need to address the ongoing issue of kidnappings.
Authorities are expected to implement enhanced security measures and community engagement strategies to further improve safety and restore public confidence.
