Pakistan Navy’s Submarine Conducts Maiden Live Weapon Firing

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy’s newly inducted Hangor-class submarine successfully executed its maiden live weapon firing in the Arabian Sea, demonstrating formidable operational readiness and advanced combat capabilities, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Sunday.
During the strategic exercise, the newly commissioned PNS/M HANGOR accurately engaged a designated long-range target utilizing an advanced anti-ship cruise missile.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf personally witnessed the live-fire demonstration. He commended the exceptional combat power exhibited by the submarine crew and underscored the paramount strategic importance of augmenting subsurface capabilities to maintain a credible maritime deterrence in the region.
The milestone event highlights the steadfast commitment of the Pakistan Navy to preserving regional peace and safeguarding national maritime frontiers.
This successful operational test follows the arrival of the first Hangor-class submarine at Karachi Port earlier in June, marking a significant stride in the deepening strategic defence cooperation between Pakistan and China.
The induction of advanced naval hardware reinforces Islamabad’s defensive posture amid evolving geopolitical dynamics across the Indian Ocean region, ensuring that the maritime forces remain fully equipped to counter contemporary security challenges.
