No More Talks Before Meeting Imran Khan: Achakzai

ZHOB: Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) and leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Mahood Khan Achakzai has asserted that any negotiations between the government and opposition will be futile without a meeting with imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Speaking at a PkMAP gathering on Wednesday to commemorate the martyrs of democracy, Achakzai emphasized the necessity of including Khan in discussions to address Pakistan’s ongoing political crisis.
Achakzai stated, “If one side is consulting its leaders and stakeholders, the PTI and opposition have the right to meet the jailed ex-premier. Until I meet Imran Khan, I will not be part of any negotiations.”
He expressed his commitment to honor the trust placed in him by the PTI and questioned the government’s reluctance to facilitate a meeting with Khan.
The PkMAP leader also cautioned that imposing governor’s rule or declaring a state of emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would lead to severe political repercussions.
He warned, “Impose governor’s rule if you wish; we will announce people’s rule and hold protests in every district.” Achakzai’s remarks highlight the escalating tensions between the government and opposition, as the political landscape in Pakistan remains fraught with uncertainty.
Looking ahead, Achakzai’s insistence on meeting Khan could set the stage for renewed political dialogue, contingent on the government’s response.
As the situation develops, the potential for protests and public demonstrations looms, indicating a volatile political atmosphere in the coming weeks.
