MQM-P Plans Karachi March for New Provinces

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) is set to stage a massive ‘National March’ on Sunday, stretching from Ayesha Manzil to Mazar-e-Quaid, to press for the establishment of new administrative units and empowered local governments in the province.
Senior party leadership inspected the route and final arrangements on Saturday, expressing satisfaction over the mobilization. The rally aims to rally public support for long-standing demands concerning urban governance, equitable resource distribution, and administrative restructuring within Sindh.
The demonstration highlights simmering political tensions regarding local governance structures in Pakistan’s financial hub.
MQM-P has consistently argued that existing administrative divisions marginalize urban centers, hindering effective service delivery and local economic empowerment.
Following Sunday’s demonstration, MQM-P leadership is expected to announce a series of public conventions and further political mobilization strategies to keep pressure on provincial and federal authorities regarding their core demands.
