Lt Gen Nauman Appointed First Head of Makkah Defence Alliance

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office announced on Wednesday the appointment of retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the inaugural secretary general of the newly formed Makkah Defence Alliance, a strategic security partnership comprising Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye.
According to the official announcement, the newly appointed chief will assume command of the alliance’s general secretariat, which is currently being established in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.
The appointment marks a significant milestone in trilateral military cooperation among the three brotherly Islamic nations, aimed at bolstering regional stability, counter-terrorism frameworks, and joint defence capabilities.
