Peshawar: Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan strongly condemned the killing of Man Mohan Singh and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and the Sikh community after meeting with a delegation of the Peshawar-based Sikh community on Tuesday.

The caretaker chief minister remarked that targeting innocent minorities is aimed at spoiling religious harmony and destabilising the country, and elements behind such activities would never succeed in their nefarious designs.

He further stated that the caretaker provincial government is taking all possible steps to ensure the security of minority communities and would continue to do so.

Headed by Sikh Community Leader Gorpal Singh, the delegation consisted of the family members of the slain Sikh citizen Man Mohan Singh and the injured Sikh citizen Tarlok Singh, who were targeted in Peshawar the other day.

Azam Khan said that targeting innocent minorities is highly regrettable and condemnable, adding that people of the Sikh community are patriotic and peaceful citizens and have long been contributing to national development.

The chief minister directed the Inspector General of Police to sit with Sikh community leaders in order to get their input on devising an improved security plan for the community. He further instructed the relevant authorities to take the required actions to install CCTV Cameras in the Sikh Community’s residential and commercial sectors.

Khan gave checks for financial assistance to the heirs of the slain Man Mohan Singh and injured Tarlok Singh.
