Karachi Endures Scorching Heat as Temperatures Reach 38.7°C
News Desk
KARACHI: The city of Karachi is experiencing a significant heatwave as temperatures soared to 38.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, accompanied by a humidity level of 43 percent, creating uncomfortable conditions for residents.
A spokesperson from the Pakistan Meteorological Department explained that October is typically a warm month for Karachi, often referred to as the city’s ‘second summer.’
The recent spike in temperatures is attributed to a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, which has diminished wind activity and led to rising temperatures. The official cautioned that if the current trend persists, temperatures could potentially reach 40°C.
This rise in temperature, coupled with high humidity, poses challenges for daily life in Karachi, particularly during the daytime when the heat is most intense.
Residents are advised to take precautions to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, as the discomfort may impact productivity and overall well-being.
Looking ahead, the Meteorological Department will continue to monitor weather patterns closely.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about updates and advisories as the month progresses, especially with the potential for further temperature increases.
