Islamabad Police Gears Up for New Year’s Traffic

Islamabad: In preparation for New Year’s Eve celebrations, Islamabad Capital Police (Traffic Wing) has devised an extensive plan to guarantee smooth traffic flow while prioritizing public safety and curbing traffic violations.

Under the leadership of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Capital Police is poised to enforce stringent measures against various traffic infractions. This includes cracking down on wheeling, participation in car racing, and any activities that disrupt traffic. Notably, special attention will be directed towards motorcyclists using heavy silencers, notorious for creating disturbances.

For New Year’s Eve, a substantial deployment of law enforcement personnel is scheduled. This entails SP Traffic, 4 DSPs, 22 inspectors, and 475 officers, including specialized squads. These units will be strategically positioned across key roads, intersections, and areas susceptible to traffic violations.

Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad, Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, has urged citizens to discourage their children from participating in wheeling activities, especially on motorcycles, emphasizing the paramount importance of safeguarding lives and property during the celebratory night.

Special squads from Islamabad Capital Police will conduct intensified patrolling on vital roads and intersections. Checkpoints will be established to rigorously enforce traffic laws, providing an added layer of security and deterring potential violations.

Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk has appealed for cooperation from all road users, advocating for adherence to lane discipline. He stressed the collective effort required to minimize accident risks during New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The Capital Police is gearing up with a proactive approach to traffic management, prioritizing a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors during the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations.
