ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued notices over alleged violations of building control regulations at the residence of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and several religious seminaries associated with him in Islamabad.

The CDA has displayed a notice outside Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman’s residence, raising objections to alleged unauthorised constructions within the building’s setbacks, as well as the installation of security posts and a generator on CDA-owned land.

Issued by the authority’s Deputy Director of Building Control, the notice directs the management of the residence to remove the alleged violations within 15 days. It warns that failure to comply could result in legal action, including the sealing of the building and demolition of unauthorised structures.

Separately, the CDA has issued notices to several seminaries linked to the JUI-F chief over alleged violations of building regulations.

One of the institutions, Madrasa Akhtar-ul-Uloom, located in Khanna Dak near Korang Nala and Bilal Town, has been accused of carrying out construction without an approved building plan.

The authority has directed the seminary’s management to submit the approved construction plans within 15 days, warning that the building could be sealed in case of non-compliance.

The CDA has also identified alleged unauthorised construction at the premises housing Idara Ma’arif-e-Islamiya, Sharia Rabbani and Tafheem-ul-Quran at House No. 3, Street No. 6, Sector F-8/3.

According to the authority, unauthorised structures have been built within the property’s setbacks and on its rooftop. Objections have also been raised over the use of a residential building as a religious seminary.

The administration of the institution has been instructed to remove the alleged violations within 15 days. Failure to comply could lead to the sealing of the premises, imposition of fines and cancellation of the property’s allotment.

The CDA said it had initiated enforcement action against various structures, including religious seminaries, to ensure compliance with building control regulations and relevant bylaws in Islamabad.
