5 tourists died, 26 injured after tourist van plunges into gorge

Murree: At least five tourists lost their lives and 26 others were injured after a passenger coaster plunged into a deep gorge following a collision with a bus near Khaira Gali on Monday, rescue officials said.

According to Rescue 1122, the coaster was carrying more than 31 passengers and was travelling from Nathiagali to Rawalpindi when it collided with a bus. The impact caused the vehicle to veer off the road and fall into a ravine.

Emergency responders from Rescue 1122 Abbottabad and Murree launched a joint rescue operation, retrieving the victims from the gorge and providing immediate medical assistance to the injured.

Twenty-two injured passengers, including women and children, were shifted to Civil Hospital Murree, while four others received first aid at the scene. Seven critically injured victims were later referred to hospitals in Rawalpindi for specialized treatment.

Rescue officials said two of the deceased were recovered by Rescue 1122 Abbottabad, while rescue teams from Murree recovered the remaining three bodies and transferred them to Civil Hospital Murree.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims. An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances that led to the collision and the fatal crash.
