A tiny Bag in Dar-e-Nijaat has viewers talking across social media

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani dramas have long enjoyed a massive following at home and abroad, but a seemingly ordinary detail in a recently aired episode has unexpectedly turned into a talking point on social media.
The drama serial “Dar-e-Nijaat,” starring Sheheryar Munawar and Durefishan Saleem in the lead roles, is currently winning strong audience attention with its storyline revolving around love, trust, relationships and the complexities of life.
However, it was not the drama’s latest plot twist that caught viewers’ attention.
During the ‘Nikah’ scene involving Abu Bakr and Zaryab, viewers noticed a shopping bag carrying the logo of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, an Indian jewellery brand from Kerala, clearly visible in the background while the characters exchanged rings.
The small detail quickly became a big talking point online.
Social media users immediately identified the brand and questioned how an Indian jewellery brand had appeared so prominently in a Pakistani drama, particularly when the country has a thriving jewellery industry of its own.
Some viewers jokingly wondered whether no Pakistani jewellery brand was available to sponsor the scene, while others questioned the choice of a brand that does not have an official showroom in Pakistan.
The discovery even prompted some curious viewers to search online for a Malabar Gold & Diamonds outlet in Pakistan, only to find that the company does not have an official showroom in the country.
Yet, the reaction was far from unanimous.
Other viewers took a more relaxed view, arguing that fashion, jewellery and entertainment frequently cross borders despite the political divide between Pakistan and India. Some users also praised the brand’s designs, saying that the origin of a product should not necessarily become an issue when international brands are routinely featured in entertainment productions.
The incident has once again highlighted how even the smallest details in a popular Pakistani drama can trigger a wider conversation about culture, fashion, branding and the enduring connections between audiences on both sides of the border.
What was probably just a shopping bag in the background has now become one of the most-discussed details from the scene—proving that in the age of social media, nothing on a hit drama set goes unnoticed for long.
