Govt Informs LHC That Aleema Received Jail Facilities

LAHORE: The Punjab government informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday that Aleema Khan, the sister of detained PTI founder Imran Khan, has been provided with basic facilities and essential personal items while in custody.
Assistant Advocate General Farrukh Khan Lodhi submitted the official report on behalf of the Kot Lakhpat jail superintendent during the hearing of a habeas corpus petition filed by Shahraiz Khan, Aleema’s son.
According to the submitted report, authorities have ensured that the detained PTI leader is furnished with necessary commodities, including a bedsheet, blanket, shoes, six suits, a towel, face wash, a toothbrush, a skincare kit, and a shawl.
Aleema was detained by law enforcement on September 20 following a detention order issued by the Lahore deputy commissioner under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.
This legal development unfolds amidst a broader political crackdown against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as the party prepares for a major countrywide protest and march toward Islamabad scheduled for September 27.
The upcoming demonstrations aim to demand the immediate release of the former prime minister and mobilize citizens in defense of constitutional supremacy, heightening political tensions across the province.
The Lahore High Court is expected to continue hearing the petition regarding the legality of her detention and prison conditions in the coming days.
