Govt Forms 30-Member Committee for Electoral Reforms
News Desk
ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to establish a 30-member parliamentary committee aimed at implementing electoral reforms. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has sent letters to the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Senate, and the Opposition Leader regarding this initiative.
According to sources, the Speaker of the National Assembly has requested the Prime Minister, in his capacity as the leader of the house, to submit the names of 15 members for the committee. This move is seen as a significant step towards enhancing the electoral process in Pakistan, which has faced criticism for its transparency and fairness in recent elections.
The formation of this committee is expected to have far-reaching implications for the political landscape in Pakistan. It aims to address longstanding issues related to electoral integrity, which could bolster public confidence in the democratic process and potentially lead to more stable governance.
Next steps include the compilation of member names and the scheduling of the committee’s first meeting, where key issues and reform proposals will be discussed. The government hopes to expedite this process to ensure timely reforms ahead of the next elections.
