Govt Announces Reduction in Petrol, Diesel Prices

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a downward revision in the prices of petroleum products, providing minor relief to citizens amidst persistent inflationary pressures gripping the national economy.
According to an official notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been decreased by Rs 1.70 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs 392.05.
Meanwhile, High-Speed Diesel (HSD) witnessed a more substantial reduction of Rs 3.12 per litre, setting its new price at Rs 418 per litre across the country.
This marginal relief in fuel costs comes at a critical time when transport and operational expenses have severely strained household budgets and commercial sectors alike.
While the downward adjustment is modest, consumer rights advocates and economic analysts note that any reduction in petroleum levies helps ease the cascading costs of essential commodities and public transport.
The revised petroleum prices take effect immediately, with oil marketing companies and retail fuel stations directed to implement the updated tariff nationwide.
Further reviews of petroleum product prices are expected at the fortnight’s end, depending heavily on international crude oil trends and exchange rate fluctuations.
