GCU Bags Inter-Varsity Gymnastics Champions 2023 Trophy

LAHORE: The Government College University (GCU) Lahore won the championship trophy on Monday, bringing the All Pakistan Inter-Varsity Gymnastics Championship 2023 to a successful conclusion.

More than eleven universities participated in the tournament held under the auspices of Higher Education Commission (HEC) at GCU Sports Hall.

The team GCU emerged as the winners of the championship, with Punjab University and University of Central Punjab securing joint second place and University of Management Technology (UMT) achieving the third position. The teams competed in a variety of disciplines, including floor exercises, balance beam, vault, and uneven bars.

GCU Vice Chancellor Professor Asghar Zaidi congratulated the winning team and thanked all the participants for making the championship a success. He underlined the role of sports in enhancing young people’s physical and mental development, and stated his hope that

students from all universities can use GCU’s gymnastic training facilities to better represent Pakistan in the future.

HEC Official Muhammad Asif lauded the contribution of University to the field of sports and acknowledged the many sports stars that the university has produced over the years.

Director Sports Muhammad Waseem Akhtar reaffirmed GC University’s commitment to promoting sports and pledged to continue supporting athletes in the future.

The Championship 2023 served as a reminder of the value of sports in creating a healthy and wealthy country while showcasing the skills of some of the nation’s most talented young athletes.
