Families Seek Lahore High Court Access to Imran Khan’s Detained Sisters

LAHORE: Families of the detained sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan have approached the Lahore High Court, requesting permission to meet Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, and Dr Uzma Khan. The applications were filed amid concerns regarding the sisters’ health and allegations of illegal detention.

Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar submitted two civil miscellaneous applications on behalf of Shah Raiz Khan, son of Aleema Khan, and Sakeena Niazi, daughter of Noreen Niazi. The petitions challenge the reported denial of medical care and visitation rights for the sisters, asserting that they have only received medicines once since their detention.

The families express grave concerns over the well-being of the sisters, emphasizing that neither legal counsel nor family members have been allowed to meet them or deliver necessary medications. This situation raises significant questions about the treatment of political figures’ families in custody and the broader implications for civil liberties in Pakistan.

The Lahore High Court is expected to hear the applications soon, with the families urging the court to intervene and ensure that the sisters receive proper medical attention and the right to family visits.
