Eleven Students Injured as School Van Catches Fire in Murree

ISLAMABAD: At least 11 school-going children sustained injuries after their van caught fire in Murree on Tuesday, according to local police reports.

The incident occurred near the Bara Hotar Link Road when a Suzuki Bolan, transporting the children, veered off the road and ignited. Emergency services responded promptly, with police and rescue teams arriving at the scene to assist the injured.

All 11 children were transported to Civil Hospital Murree, where medical staff reported that eight of them were in stable condition. However, three children suffered severe burn injuries, with one child experiencing burns covering 42 percent of their body, while the others sustained burns of 38 percent and 26 percent, respectively. Murree District Police Officer Raza Tanveer Sipra visited the hospital to ensure the injured received adequate medical care.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities have stated that necessary legal actions will follow. This incident raises concerns about the safety of school transportation in the region, prompting calls for stricter regulations and oversight to prevent such tragedies in the future.
