Why Priyanka and Lara’s Wimbledon Reunion Went Viral
News Desk
Mumbai: A chance reunion between Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta at Wimbledon has taken fans on a trip down memory lane, reviving memories of their journey from international beauty pageants to Bollywood stardom.
The actresses, who first shared the screen in the 2003 hit Andaaz, reunited on the sidelines of the prestigious tennis tournament in London, with photos of the pair quickly going viral on social media. Fans flooded the posts with nostalgic comments, many calling it an “Andaaz reunion” more than two decades after the film’s release.
Lara Dutta first shared a photo of the two on Instagram, writing, “26 years later, happy girls are still the…” followed by heart emojis—a reference to their friendship dating back to 2000, when Lara won the Miss Universe crown and Priyanka Chopra was crowned Miss World in the same year.
Priyanka later reposted the moment on her own Instagram Story, captioning it, “So good to see my girl.”
The reunion reminded fans of Andaaz, directed by Raj Kanwar, which marked Lara’s Bollywood debut and featured both former beauty queens opposite Akshay Kumar. The film proved to be a commercial success and established both actresses among Hindi cinema’s leading stars. They later reunited on screen in Don 2, where Priyanka played Roma and Lara portrayed Ayesha.
Priyanka’s appearance at Wimbledon also attracted attention for another reason. She attended the women’s singles semi-final and revealed that although her husband, Nick Jonas, could not join her this year due to work commitments in Los Angeles, she briefly FaceTimed him from the stands to share the experience.
Professionally, both actresses are preparing for major projects. Priyanka is set to make her Bollywood comeback after an eight-year hiatus with director SS Rajamouli’s upcoming action-adventure film alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Lara, meanwhile, is reportedly part of Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of Ramayana, one of the biggest productions in Indian cinema, scheduled for release in two parts beginning with Diwali 2026.
For many fans, however, it was their Wimbledon reunion, not their upcoming films, that stole the spotlight, serving as a reminder of an era when two beauty queens reshaped Bollywood together. Additional input from foreign media.
