Why Is PSL 11 a Make-or-Break Season for Saud Shakeel?

Karachi: Quetta Gladiators captain Saud Shakeel says the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is particularly important for him as he aims to secure a spot in the upcoming ODI World Cup squad.

Speaking to the media, Shakeel reflected on the previous season, saying, “There was a good performance last year, but now we are starting anew. We will try to play good cricket once again.”

He added, “This season is very important for me. With the ODI World Cup approaching, I want to perform well to catch the attention of the selectors.”

On the team’s preparation, Shakeel noted that the Gladiators are working with a new unit of fast bowlers and are focused on creating a strong combination. “Our enthusiasm will remain high, especially because of the fans. Even if they cannot be present at the stadium, we will ask them to watch from home and support us,” he said.

Shakeel also highlighted the increased competitiveness this season, with eight teams participating for the first time. “The competition will be tougher, and only at the end of the edition will we know whether things went well or not,” he added.

The Quetta Gladiators will be looking to leverage this expanded competition to make a mark, with Shakeel leading both on and off the field.
