Why Did Rizwan Ali Jafri Let His Mother Choose His Wife?

Islamabad: Actor and public figure Rizwan Ali Jafri has opened up about his arranged marriage, sharing how he trusted his mother’s judgment in finding his life partner and why the decision eventually turned out to be the right one.

Speaking about his marriage, Jafri said he had little prior interaction with his wife, who is a doctor by profession and his second cousin, before their families arranged their meeting.

Jafri explained that he chose to leave the search for a suitable partner to his mother, believing that parents often understand their children’s personalities and preferences deeply after watching them grow up.

“Parents, especially mothers, know their children’s habits and nature. While looking for a life partner, they try to find someone whose personality matches,” he said.

He revealed that his engagement happened unexpectedly. His family told him they were travelling to Islamabad without revealing the actual purpose of the visit. His future wife was also unaware of the plan, with only her siblings knowing about the proposal.

Upon arriving at her home, Jafri said his mother introduced him to her and asked for his opinion. Before that meeting, he had only seen her photograph and was unsure about what to expect.

After spending time with her family, he said he quickly realised that she was the person he wanted to marry. During the journey back to Lahore, his brother asked about his decision, and Jafri said he already knew she was the right match.

Jafri added that he had always believed he would marry someone with whom he naturally connected, and described his wife as an exceptional person who has brought happiness to his life.

Sharing his experience, he said his arranged marriage proved that trust, compatibility and understanding can build a strong relationship, even when couples do not know each other beforehand.
