During a recent interview in which she discussed her decades-long career, personal life and early experiences in the entertainment industry, Bushra revealed that her official name is recorded as Bushra Bashir. However, professionally and publicly, she continues to be recognised as Bushra Ansari.

When the host addressed her as “Bushra Bashir”, the actress promptly pointed out that audiences know her by the name Bushra Ansari, explaining why she has no intention of changing it.

Bushra said she has frequently been advised to remove “Ansari” following her divorce, but she prefers to keep it because changing a name that people have known for decades could leave her fans and acquaintances confused.

She referred to actress Saba Hameed as an example, recalling how many people continued to address her as “Saba Pervaiz” for years, even after her personal circumstances had changed.

Speaking in her trademark straightforward manner, Bushra added that her two daughters also use “Ansari” with their names and that her former husband, director Iqbal Ansari, has no issue with them retaining it.

For the veteran actress, “Ansari” has evolved into something far greater than a surname associated with her former marriage. It has become an integral part of the professional persona she has established throughout her career.

Bushra noted that a name is not simply something recorded on official paperwork. Over time, it becomes embedded in the memories of audiences who have watched and followed an artist for decades. A sudden change, she suggested, could leave people wondering whether they are being introduced to someone entirely different.

Bushra Ansari was married to director Iqbal Ansari, and the couple has two daughters. Their marriage continued for nearly 36 years before they eventually parted ways after a long relationship.

Although that chapter of her personal life has ended, Bushra has continued using the name through which she built her enduring connection with audiences.
