Two Held for Threatening Dengue Inspection Team in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI:
Two shopkeepers were arrested by local police on Thursday for allegedly threatening and obstructing a dengue inspection team in the Morgah area. The incident unfolded during a routine health inspection aimed at combating the dengue outbreak.

The complaint was filed by Syed Nayyar Abbas, a resident of Al-Noor Colony Khanna Pul, who reported that the inspection team, consisting of sanitary patrol workers Ahsan Mahmood and Owais Ali, faced hostility while visiting a confectionery shop. According to the FIR, one shopkeeper refused to allow the inspection and verbally abused the officials, insisting they leave the premises.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges in public health efforts, particularly in areas where resistance to health inspections can hinder disease control measures. The actions of the shopkeepers not only obstructed the officials but also posed a risk to community health by preventing necessary inspections.

Authorities are expected to investigate the matter further, and the police have indicated that they will take strict action against any future incidents of this nature to ensure the safety and effectiveness of public health initiatives.
