Twincities Step Up Security Ahead of Long March

Islamabad/Rawalpindi: The administrations of twincities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have finalized separate security plans following announcements of a long march and sit-ins targeting the seat of power.

Security preparations have intensified in both cities, with authorities deploying containers and barriers at key entry and exit points to control movement. Police personnel from other provinces have also begun arriving to reinforce local security arrangements.

In Islamabad, a large number of containers have been placed along major thoroughfares, including 26 Number Chungi, Faizabad, Kashmir Highway and Murree Road.

Authorities have sealed three routes leading to the Red Zone, while additional routes may be blocked with barriers depending on the situation.

In Rawalpindi, more than 11,000 police personnel are expected to be deployed under the security plan.

The authorities have decided to close 26 entry points into the city and install barriers at 72 locations. Eight routes leading to Adiala Jail will also be closed, while preparations are underway to block 50 major streets across Rawalpindi.

Officials say the security measures are aimed at maintaining law and order and managing traffic during the planned demonstrations.
