Trump Clarifies Misinterpreted Comments on California
News Desk
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Thursday clarified that his recent comments suggesting Iran could ‘take out’ California cities were misinterpreted, asserting he was actually addressing the need for Americans to accept higher gas prices as a wartime sacrifice.
During a political rally in Nebraska earlier this week, Trump remarked, ‘Let ‘em take out Los Angeles, let ‘em take out San Diego,’ while discussing the economic implications of ongoing conflicts.
His comments drew swift backlash from California’s Democratic leaders and some Republicans, who expressed concern over the implications of such statements.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump explained, ‘What I was talking about was that a temporary increase in the price of Gasoline is a small price to pay for Iran not having a Nuclear Weapon.’
He emphasized the potential catastrophic consequences of an attack on American cities, stating, ‘If they bombed San Diego and/or Los Angeles, can you imagine what it would be like?’
As the political landscape heats up ahead of the upcoming elections, Trump’s remarks may influence public sentiment regarding national security and economic policies. Observers are keenly watching how these comments will affect his support among voters concerned about safety and economic stability.
