Three Injured After Cooling Unit Explodes at DHQ Hospital

Rawalpindi: A compressor in a cooling unit exploded during repair work at District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Rawalpindi on Sunday, injuring three people and triggering panic in the surrounding area.

According to the hospital administration, the injured were immediately shifted to the burn unit of Holy Family Hospital for medical treatment.

Officials said the blast occurred while repair work was underway on the cooling unit compressor inside the hospital premises. 

The intensity of the explosion was so powerful that the sound was heard from a considerable distance, causing fear and panic among nearby residents and visitors.

Hospital authorities confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

Earlier on Saturday, a fire broke out in a metro bus near Sixth Road in Rawalpindi on Saturday, triggering an immediate emergency response from rescue teams and a temporary suspension of metro operations on the route.

According to rescue officials, the bus was en route from Islamabad to Rawalpindi when it reportedly developed a fault and caught fire near the busy Sixth Road area. The exact cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.

Rescue teams reached the site shortly after the incident and launched firefighting operations to bring the situation under control. Authorities confirmed that all passengers on board were safely evacuated before the fire spread further, preventing any casualties.
