Railways to Launch Additional Freight Trains to Meet Demand

News Desk

KARACHI: Pakistan Railways has announced plans to operate additional freight trains in response to demands from the business community.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi on November 6, 2026.

During the meeting, officials set a target for the railway department to launch 14 freight trains by January. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of freight services and support the growing needs of traders across the country.

Minister Abbasi emphasized the importance of improving rail logistics to boost economic activities.

The introduction of more freight trains is expected to significantly benefit the economy by facilitating smoother transportation of goods, reducing costs for businesses, and potentially increasing trade volume.

This move aligns with the government’s broader strategy to revitalize the rail sector and improve infrastructure.

Looking ahead, the railway department is expected to hold further discussions to finalize operational details and logistics for the new freight services.

Stakeholders from the business community will likely be involved in these discussions to ensure that the services meet their needs effectively.
