Punjab’s Clinic on Wheels Project Crosses 3M Patient

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s flagship healthcare initiative, the ‘Clinic on Wheels’ project, has achieved a historic milestone by successfully providing medical services and treatments to over three million patients across the province.
The remarkable achievement was highlighted during a high-level video link meeting chaired by the Chief Minister to conduct a comprehensive review of ongoing health sector reforms in Punjab.
During the session, health authorities and the Secretary of Primary and Secondary Healthcare presented detailed performance metrics, confirming that mobile medical units have significantly bridged healthcare gaps in remote and underserved areas.
Launched to decentralize medical access and bring basic diagnostics and treatments directly to doorsteps, the mobile clinic network has proven to be a vital lifeline for marginalized communities who previously faced severe logistical barriers in accessing institutional healthcare facilities. Public health experts have lauded the initiative for alleviating the burden on major tertiary hospitals in urban centers by managing primary health cases locally.
Concluding the review session, the Chief Minister directed the health department to further expand the geographic reach and operational capacity of the mobile clinics. Authorities are slated to procure additional equipped vehicles and deploy specialized medical staff to target remaining remote pockets, ensuring universal healthcare access across the province.
