PTI Leadership Faces Internal Strife Following March Failure
News Desk
PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party is grappling with significant internal discord following the fallout from its recent protest march, which has prompted calls for leadership changes to navigate the ongoing crisis.
The tensions within the party became evident on Wednesday as Secretary General Salman Akram Raja publicly criticized the decision by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lawmakers to nominate Ali Amin Gandapur as the interim president of the province.
Raja accused Gandapur of undermining the party’s objectives, while Gandapur retaliated by demanding an apology from Raja for what he termed ‘name-calling’.
This public spat highlights the growing rifts within PTI’s core committee, raising concerns about the party’s unity and effectiveness in addressing pressing political challenges.
Analysts suggest that such infighting could weaken PTI’s position in upcoming elections and diminish its influence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province it has historically dominated.
As the situation unfolds, party insiders indicate that discussions regarding potential leadership restructuring are imminent.
The PTI leadership is expected to convene in the coming days to address these issues and strategize on how to restore party cohesion and public confidence.
