Political, Military Leadership Agree to Keep Protests Away from Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, announced that the political and military leadership of Pakistan has reached a consensus that protests and long marches should take place away from the capital, Islamabad. This decision comes amid ongoing discussions regarding the political landscape and the need for stability in the region.

During a press briefing on October 2, 2026, Sanaullah emphasized the importance of maintaining order and ensuring that political demonstrations do not disrupt the functioning of the government. He noted that the federal government, in collaboration with the Pakistan Peoples Party, is open to engaging in dialogue with opposition parties to address pressing political issues.

This agreement reflects a strategic move to mitigate tensions between the government and opposition factions, which have historically used protests as a means to exert pressure on the ruling party. By relocating these activities away from Islamabad, the leadership aims to prevent potential unrest and maintain public order, which is crucial for the country’s socio-economic stability.

Looking ahead, the government plans to initiate a series of meetings with opposition leaders to foster a cooperative political environment. These discussions are expected to focus on key reforms and the overall governance framework, with the aim of ensuring a more stable political climate in the coming months.
