PDMA Balochistan Stresses Coordinated Emergency Response

Quetta: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan held a high-level consultative meeting under the chairmanship of Director Naveed Ahmed Sheikh to review monsoon season preparedness and strengthen strategies for dealing with potential emergencies.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from relevant government departments, rescue agencies, and other stakeholders.

Participants reviewed possible flood risks during the upcoming monsoon season, including threats to urban and rural areas, emergency relief operations, coordination mechanisms, and rapid response procedures. Officials briefed the forum on their preparedness levels, available resources, and contingency plans.

Addressing the meeting, Director PDMA Naveed Ahmed Sheikh stressed the need for strong coordination among all institutions to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season. He directed departments to ensure that machinery, personnel, and emergency supplies remain fully prepared for any untoward situation.

He also emphasized the identification of vulnerable and low-lying areas, improvement of drainage systems, launch of public awareness campaigns, and activation of emergency response centers. He said continuous inter-departmental communication would be maintained throughout the season to ensure timely and effective action in case of emergencies.

The meeting decided to implement a comprehensive strategy to deal with any potential disaster situation during the monsoon season.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to utilize all available resources to protect citizens and minimize the impact of natural disasters.
