Nana Patekar’s Death: Post-Mortem Reveals Cause
News Desk
GOA: The cause of death of renowned Indian actor Nana Patekar has been revealed in the post-mortem report, which attributed his death to a heart attack caused by a blood clot blocking a major coronary artery.
Despite doctors’ efforts to revive the 75-year-old actor through approximately 45 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), he could not be saved.
According to India Today, a senior doctor at Goa Medical College and Hospital confirmed on Sunday that the post-mortem examination identified a blockage in the left main coronary artery as the cause of death.
The left main coronary artery supplies blood to a substantial portion of the heart. A blockage in this artery can severely restrict blood flow and trigger a potentially fatal heart attack. The report also pointed to atherosclerosis, a condition in which fatty deposits accumulate inside the arteries, causing them to narrow or become blocked. Doctors described the death as occurring from natural causes.
How Did Nana Patekar Become Critically Ill?
Nana Patekar was taken from his residence in Goa’s Dona Paula area to a private hospital in the early hours of October 8 after he fell ill. According to hospital officials, his caretaker called an ambulance to seek emergency medical assistance.
The actor’s residence was located less than a kilometre from the hospital. Upon his arrival, medical staff immediately attempted to resuscitate him. However, despite performing CPR for around 45 minutes, doctors were unable to restore his condition. He was pronounced dead at 5:10 am.
The post-mortem findings indicate that the fatal heart attack resulted from a blood clot lodged in a major coronary artery, although the report does not establish precisely when the clot formed.
