BANNU: Armed militants allegedly took 13 people hostage on Friday as families attempted to relocate to safer areas.
As tension escalating tensions between a local peace committee, law enforcement agencies, and insurgent groups in the mountainous Hathikhel region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Wazir subdivision.
According to local reports, the victims were intercepted while transporting personal belongings in vehicles to escape the volatile locality.
While local police sources confirmed the abduction, law enforcement authorities have yet to issue a formal, detailed statement regarding the unfolding security crisis. Meanwhile, a photograph circulating on social media purportedly depicts the abducted individuals alongside Nasir, also known as Gidarh, who is identified as a local commander of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Independent verification of the photograph and the identities of those featured remains pending.
This disturbing incident highlights the fragile security landscape in Pakistan’s western border regions, where rising insurgent activity continues to threaten local communities and displace civilians.
