Lahore Declared Most Polluted City Worldwide
LAHORE:
News Desk
Lahore has once again been ranked as the most polluted city in the world, with air quality levels classified as ‘unhealthy’, according to the air quality monitoring platform IQAir. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that the government is actively working to address the escalating environmental issues.
In recent years, air pollution has emerged as one of the most critical public health and environmental crises in Pakistan. Cities across the country, particularly Lahore, experience severe smog, especially during the winter months. This alarming phenomenon is primarily attributed to industrial emissions, vehicular pollution, stubble burning, and adverse air movement patterns.
The persistent air quality crisis poses significant health risks to citizens, leading to increased respiratory diseases and impacting overall quality of life. Economically, the situation threatens productivity and healthcare costs, while politically, it raises questions about the government’s ability to manage environmental challenges effectively.
Looking ahead, the government is expected to implement new policies and initiatives aimed at reducing pollution levels. Upcoming meetings with environmental experts and stakeholders are anticipated to focus on sustainable solutions to combat the ongoing air quality crisis.
