KP Notifies Transport Allowance Monetisation for Judicial Officers

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formally notified the monetisation of transport allowances for judicial officers across the province, aligning its provincial policy with the directives issued by the National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC). Issued by the KP finance department, the notification follows the approval granted by the provincial cabinet during its high-level meeting on August 28, 2026, with implementation slated to take effect from October 1, 2026.
Under the newly established structured framework, financial allocations vary according to judicial grading.
A district and sessions judge operating in BS-21 will receive a monthly monetisation amount of Rs195,000, while additional district and sessions judges in BS-20 are designated to receive Rs175,000. Furthermore, senior civil judges belonging to BS-19 will be granted Rs150,000 monthly, and civil judges in BS-18 will receive Rs100,000 per month to cover their official transportation requirements efficiently.
This policy stems from a broader judicial reform initiative originally greenlit by the NJPMC during its February 11 meeting, which was chaired by the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The committee had formulated a comprehensive package of recommendations aimed at standardizing remuneration and allowances for judicial officers nationwide, ensuring uniform operational facilitation regardless of provincial jurisdictions.
Legal experts and administrative analysts view the latest development as a crucial step toward reinforcing judicial independence and administrative efficacy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
By streamlining official transport logistics through direct monetary compensation, the provincial administration anticipates improved punctuality, reduced logistical bottlenecks, and enhanced resource management across all district and civil courts.
