Mumbai: In a crucial must-win encounter, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl first against Mumbai Indians in Kolkata on Tuesday night. The decision came after persistent rain left the pitch under covers for much of the day, making conditions favorable for chasing.

KKR stayed alive in the tournament race after winning five of their last six matches following a difficult start to the season. However, they still needed victories in their remaining fixtures along with favorable results from other teams to keep their playoff hopes intact.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians were strengthened by the returns of captain Hardik Pandya and star batter Suryakumar Yadav. Afghanistan spinner AM Ghazanfar was also expected to feature as the Impact Player while defending later in the match.

Mumbai Indians lineup included Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Naman Dhir, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Will Jacks, Corbin Bosch, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah and Raghu Sharma.
