Khanewal Police Arrest Two Over Alleged Cow Killing

Khanewal: Police in Khanewal have arrested two suspects following an alleged case of animal cruelty in the Sarai Sidhu area, where a cow was reportedly killed and a calf injured in a violent attack.

The action was taken after District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abid directed authorities to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident.

According to police, the incident took place in Mauza 12 Kasi near Bagar Sargana. After receiving an emergency call through police helpline 15, Sarai Sidhu police reached the location, collected evidence, recorded statements from witnesses, and began an investigation.

During the initial inquiry, police alleged that a landlord and his accomplice attacked a calf, causing a serious leg injury, before repeatedly striking a cow with sticks, resulting in its death.

Police said the suspects were traced and arrested using investigative methods, while a case has been registered at Sarai Sidhu Police Station under FIR No. 606/26 under sections 429, 506, 148, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The district police chief said violence against animals is a serious offence and assured that legal action would be taken against those responsible.

Police officials added that authorities would continue taking measures to prevent cruelty against animals and ensure enforcement of the law.
